SKIN CARE

Mistakes you should never make in your skincare routine: Part 1

Taking care of your skin is not just a matter of image. It is a protective barrier that acts as a shield against any attack or external threat. For this reason, the final objective of taking care of our skin or using a certain treatment should always be to keep it as healthy as possible, and not simply to beautify it. Healthy skin, after all, will look radiant.

The skin sends us signals and it is important to observe them to know what we need.    With this, knowing each person’s skin is the first step to finding a routine according to the needs of each one and, within the skin care process, we highlight a series of mistakes that should never be made if we want to be healthy:

1.- Apply the cosmetics in the wrong order: The order does alter the result, so we emphasise that, as a general rule, products with a more liquid texture should always be applied first and leave those with a more liquid texture for last. denser texture. For example, the toner, essential in any facial skin care process, serves to balance the pH of the skin after cleansing and should be applied before any other moisturising product or treatment.

2.- Forgetting to take care of the neck: You have to use the same moisturising cream that is applied to the face and doesn’t forget about this part of the body. Like the skin on the face, the skin on the neck loses elasticity, firmness and hydration over the years.

3.- Use anti-ageing products ahead of time: The important thing is to prevent but buying anti-ageing products ahead of time can be counterproductive. Cosmetics with anti-ageing properties contain ingredients that our skin does not need. To prevent this, the most useful thing is to keep the skin hydrated from a young age so that the signs of ageing are not so pronounced.

There is no exact age at which to start using anti-ageing products; It depends on our genetics and the lifestyle we lead. The answer will always be in the mirror and our skin, not in the slogan of any packaging.

4.- Hydrate the skin only when it feels dry: The skin sends us signals and dryness can be one of them. Lack of hydration causes flaking. If we see these symptoms, it is because we have not been moisturising our skin well. That is why we must do it before noticing these changes and not start just at the moment we see them appear.

5.- Not moisturising the skin because it is oily: Many people deprive their oily skin of hydration because there is a widespread myth that the cream will only cause more sebum, when in fact the opposite is true. Oily skin must be hydrated to avoid an overproduction of sebum, which is generated to cover the lack of hydration. The trick is knowing how to choose a cream that hydrates the skin but is not occlusive or leaves a residue. The best for oily skin are gel textures.

6.- Put moisturising cream before the eye contour: Have you been thinking for years that the eye contour is the last step? You are in time to change it. The eye contour should always be applied before the cream or lotion so that it penetrates deeply. If we do it the other way around, the only thing we will achieve is that the facial cream creates a barrier and the contour does not act.
