Taking Care Of Skin in the Eye Region

What are dark circles?

You’ve probably had them, I’ve probably had them at some point. They might come from stress, dehydration, genetics, strain, and whatnot. The reason can be because we are overworked and do not get enough sleep, or we stay up very late everyday just to watch our favorite TV show. Regardless, it is important to main a healthy lifestyle that might require a change in your daily routine or using a product for the skin in your eye region.

How do we get them?

Dark circles can start to appear for a variety of reasons. One of them is because of collagen production, or rather a lack of it. As we get older, our body starts to produce less and less collagen every year and this results in our skin becoming stressed and losing its elasticity. We can slow down this process in the skin around our eyes by making use of sunscreen regularly because harmful rays from the sun slow down the collagen-building process.

Our genes also play a significant role in dark circles because our genetics decide what kind of skin we will have and having sensitive or light-colored skin will result in dark circles being more prominent. One reason we get dark circles you might know of is a lack of sleep. Sleep deprivation can also make your eyelids appear puffy. You’ve probably had your mother tell you when you were a child to get off your phone screen. Looking at a screen for too long can cause tiredness in your eyes which will darken the skin around it. Dehydration can also cause dark circles because a lack of water over a long time will cause your skin to almost hug the muscles all over your body, and the skin around your eyes will become dark.

How do we make them go away?

The solution to making any type of darkness around our eyes go away is very straightforward in some cases. As mentioned above, any prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause dark circles, and the solution is to apply sunscreen and make use of sunglasses. The simple answer to fix dark circles because of sleep deprivation is to get sufficient sleep. In addition, if your eyes are getting tired because of spending too much time on the screen then just reduce your screen time, simple.

Unfortunately, what works for you might not work for everyone! Some people might’ve had dark circles for so long that getting rid of them could turn out to be a challenge. The good news is that there are several other ways to rejuvenate the skin around your eyes. You probably might’ve seen a wealthy person in a movie having his nails done and having cucumbers on his eyes. This is because cucumbers give a cooling sensation to your eyes and tighten up the skin around your eyes. Chilled tea bags also work just as well providing a calming sensation to your eyes and have anti-inflammatory properties.
