SKIN CARE

The ultimate guide to skincare routine with growth factors

When it comes to skincare people are usually advised to be attentive to what they are buying. Having the wrong ingredient in your skincare products can cause an allergic reaction or even make the same situation you are seeking to treat worse. Most people tend to go for cosmetic products that can either have a chemical or physical reaction. However, the type of reaction is dependent on the mode of application and it requires you to first be conscious of the type of skin you have and its characteristics.

What are growth factors and why is it important to skincare?

Growth factors are also used in the skincare industry but most people are not familiar with it and how they can help your skin appear healthy and young. If this is your first time to hear about growth factors then this article will cover everything you need to know about it. In simple terms, growth factors are said to be a naturally occurring substance that can facilitate cell proliferation, occasionally cellular differentiation, and healing of wounds on your skin. The naturally occurring substance that we are talking about is natural proteins in your body that aid your skin signaling properties. This means that they can control or rather influence how your skin cells react and behave.

The older we get the more our aging process is fast-tracked. This is an inevitable process and we all agave to go through it at a certain point in our lives. However, this is not to say that we can not intervene and try to at least slow down the process. The aging process is accompanied by lines and wrinkles appearing on our skin, the texture and elasticity of the skin weakened, and the skin tends to become drier. These are some of the symptoms that people seek to address when they use growth factors.

How are growth factors used to improve the skin?

There are different growth factors and they are all used to address different aging symptoms in our bodies. The hepatocyte growth factor (referred to as HGF in short), is used to boost the collagen levels on your skin. The higher the collagen level the fewer wrinkles will appear on your skin and the elasticity level of your skin will be improved. The fibroblast growth factor (referred to as FGF1 in short), is used to promote the cellular regeneration process in your skin. The interleukins -10, -13, -15 growth factor is used to reduce inflammation and also promote healing of wounds on your skin. The platelet-derived growth factor is used in the regulation of cell growth and division. The transforming growth factor-beta (referred to as TGF-ßI in short), is also used in the promotion of collagen level and speeds up the healing process on any wounds on the skin. The keratinocyte growth factor 1 is considered helpful in the stimulation of epithelial cell growth.

All the above growth factors can be used to either help wounds heal faster, reduce lines and wrinkles on your skin, and improve skin elasticity.
